Jarl Ewing was the captain of Veronar's guard. When he learned that Galathorn was the rightful heir to the throne of Brek Zarith, and that Thorgal helped him regain it, Ewing tried to change sides to help. This earned him a death sentence. He narrowly avoided conviction, but then took Aaricia hostage in an attempt to force Thorgal's hand. This failed, resulting instead in Thorgal shooting an arrow straight into Ewing's heart, killing him. [1]
